I had a large blank wall and no upper cabinets in my kitchen. What else was a girl to do?
I am sure most people would have saved up and bought something that actually belonged in a kitchen, but as usual I am impatient. There were too many things on my counter right this minute. A well functioning kitchen was a problem for right now.
I took myself to the ReStore, to see what I could find. Alas. no one had pulled exactly what I wanted out of their kitchen and donated it recently.
What I did find however, were a selection of cabinet doors. Long ones, short ones, a whole mismatched shelf worth. We rifled through them and found a matching pair that were long and thin. Best of all? they were only $2 each!
All they needed after that was to have the hardware removed and and some brackets bought to attach them to the wall. The only real issue we had mounting them, was that one of the screw holes on the brackets landed on the decorative trim on the front of the doors. We just drilled a new hole in a better position.
(Oh, and maybe the part where I installed the first pair of shelf brackets upside down. You would know better that to do that though, right?)

What do you think? I am pretty happy with how they turned out! I have a ton more storage, a clear usable counter in my kitchen, and matching shelves that wipe off easily. Definitely a win in my book!
