I have been on a bit of a sewing kick lately, and my Spring wardrobe has been benefitting!

I don’t know if it’s because everyone has been doing their Spring cleaning, but every time I go to the thrift store I have been finding cotton sheets with great prints that I can’t wait to turn into dresses. I have been happily sewing my way through a show or an audio book in the evenings. If this keeps up, you will probably see more in the future!
This one was a soft pink with a really pretty floral pattern. I used a variation of the pattern I had drafted for the Picnic Dress, but without buttons. (https://www.hodgepodgehomesteading.com/2024/05/04/the-prettiest-picnic-dress/)
I had had a bit of gaping at the neckline with that dress. To fix it in this one I did a small gather at the front of the neckline. I really like how it turned out! I adds a bit of shaping while letting me irrationally avoid sewing darts…
I added some cute little ties to the side for shaping. I think they really add something since the rest of the dress is fairly simple.
Of course it had to have pockets as well. Why even sew if you aren’t adding giant pockets to your dresses???
This dress is so soft and comfortable to wear, and will breathe in hot weather. It is already one of the first things I reach for as soon as it comes out of the wash!
I am thinking that the next one is going to need a good old fashioned puffed sleeve though. Summery, but without the risk of sunburn on my shoulders…
