How do you like to store your seeds? I think I have tried most options at this point. This rainbow beauty was one of my favorite birthday presents last year. I absolutely love it!

In which the author almost didn’t receive her present once her little niece caught sight of it. (Apparently the handle makes it quite fun to tote around!)

It ticks a lot of boxes for me. It holds a lot, but does it compactly without a lot of dead space. It is waterproof enough to bring outside in the spring without having to worry about my seeds or paper envelopes getting wet. The boxes close well enough to preserve seeds but not so tightly that there is any danger of condensation. A handle makes toting it around the backyard a breeze. There are enough separate compartments to sort seeds by type, which makes them easy to find, and of course my favorite part… it’s rainbow! (It also comes in a clear version if rainbow doesn’t happen to be a selling point in your opinion. It’s ok, we can still be friends.)

Is this a late night infomercial? Do I own stock in the company? Is this even actually a seed storage box??? Nope. None of the above. I have to confess, I raided the craft store. Pretty sure this is meant to hold photos or little scrapbooking pieces. It is so much better than anything else I have ever used though!

I have used jars (pretty but took up way too much space), envelopes (more streamlined but less waterproof or organized), metal tins (always the wrong size and again hard to organize), and a shoebox that I cut cardboard dividers for (got my organization but it was hard to keep it dry outside, plus cardboard only lasts so long).

My next step was going to be a binder, but I just wasn’t excited about it. I have tried that with other things and you have to be very careful how you hold it to keep things from falling out. I also found that unless what you are storing is the size of a piece of paper or a baseball card, you will probably just have them floating around in a page protector. Some people like the plastic envelopes that you can get for binders, but that would have increased the cost a fair bit for how many I wanted.

All in all, this solution absolutely knocks it out of the park for me. What do you use for your seeds? What makes it work for you? I am always curious about how other people choose to do things!
